Add Something Instead of Giving Something Up

March in Wisconsin often overlaps with Lent – a season where people give something up.

Sugar. Alcohol. Fast food. Social media.

And while removing things can be powerful, there’s another strategy that works even better for long-term change:

Add something in.

Instead of cutting calories drastically, add protein.
Instead of eliminating carbs, add vegetables.
Instead of giving up comfort foods, add strength training.
Instead of punishing yourself, add structure.

Positive addition builds identity.

When you add 3 workouts a week, you become someone who trains.
When you add 8,000 steps daily, you become someone who moves.
When you add 7 hours of sleep, you become someone who recovers.

Restrictions create short-term compliance. Additions create lifestyle shifts.

March is a perfect reset month. Not extreme. Not dramatic. Intentional.

What if for the next 30 days you simply committed to:
• 3 strength workouts weekly
• Protein at every meal
• 80 ounces of water daily

No crash dieting. No overhauls. Just consistency.

Small added habits compound faster than aggressive restrictions.
